Welcome to Curtis Brown 120, a year-long celebration of our authors past and present, and an opportunity to look to the future and welcome bright new talent through our doors. We are looking back over the 120 years since Albert Curtis Brown founded his agency, and the countless talented authors who, in writing their own stories, have formed part of ours.
From dusting off the hidden gems in our archive to showcasing the debuts launching in our anniversary year, we’ll be spending 2019 celebrating the start of stories old and new.
In partnership with our brilliant writing school Curtis Brown Creative and across our Twitter and Instagram, we’ll be offering up glimpses behind the scenes, exclusive writing tips from our agents and authors, and hosting Q&As with story-makers from across the industry.
The common thread that stretches across Curtis Brown’s history has always been a passion for finding and championing great new writing. Every book starts with a first line, every career with the first moment of inspiration – we’re constantly thinking about beginnings.
As such Curtis Brown – in partnership with Curtis Brown Creative – are delighted to launch the inaugural Curtis Brown First Novel Prize, our mission to find the exciting new voices of the future. Tracy Chevalier, bestselling author of Girl with a Pearl Earring and A Single Thread, will chair the judging panel formed of Curtis Brown agents and the Curtis Brown Creative team.
