We’re SO delighted to announce that Kobo have agreed to sponsor one place on each of three of our creative writing courses taking place over the next year. We get lots of emails from writers who’d like to come on our courses but can’t afford the fee. The Kobo Writing Life Scholarship has been devised to help with this. You can find out more and check the eligibility criteria on our scholarship page.
The first scholarship will be for our 3-Month Writing For Children Course, which is now open for applications. Kobo will then offer scholarship places on two of our novel-writing courses (not yet open for applications): the 3-Month Novel-Writing Course to run September-December of this year, and the 6-Month Novel-Writing Course to run February-July 2014. Lovely Kobo will pay the fee of the scholarship winner for each of these courses, lovely Kobo will pay their fee in full.
Here’s how it’s going to work: If you have very low income and very small or no savings, you check the eligibility criteria to see if you qualify for the scholarship. If so you just fill out a normal application to the relevant course, and make sure that you complete the special scholarship section of the application form. That’s it. The only note of caution is that we ARE targeting this specifically at people who can’t afford our courses – so if you are unsuccessful in getting the scholarship, you can’t then apply to take that same course as a fee-paying student.
We at Curtis Brown Creative are really thrilled about this new scholarship and would like to thank Kobo for their generosity in providing it. To find out more about Kobo Writing Life and the services it offers to authors, take a look at their website.
As well as expert teaching from published authors, all our novel-writing courses offer dedicated modules on submitting your novel to literary agents – and include sessions on writing a synopsis and preparing a covering letter. Click for more information or to apply for our creative writing courses.
