Bootcamp is back! If you’re already taken our 30-Day Writing Bootcamp, join us for another month of nourishing writing exercises, inspiring prompts and all-new writing advice.

This course was even better than the first. The tasks were more demanding and I loved the need to incubate the prompt before writing and submitting. Definitely wonderful value – and stimulating and insightful throughout.

In Bootcamp Vol 2, we’ll go deeper still into the thorny topics that might be snagging you as you write your novel or stories. And once again, we’ll get you writing every day to freshen up your thinking and help you power forward.

Sound good? Then it’s time to enrol. Our second 30-Day Writing Bootcamp comprises teaching videos, tasks, writing tips and prompts – created, designed and delivered to you by CBC’s founder and MD, Anna Davis.

If you haven’t yet taken the first 30-Day Writing Bootcamp, we recommend you start with that one and move on to this one later.

Set your own personal target for the bootcamp – whether that’s to write something every day, to achieve a desired word count by the end, to solve problems with a WIP – whatever works for your stage of writing. Acquire new skills through the lessons and try them out in the writing tasks (which can be used to generate lots of new pieces of writing or to progress your WIP).

Anna Davis

Anna Davis is the founder and Director of the Curtis Brown Creative writing school. She is the author of five acclaimed novels which have been published in twenty languages. She has been a journalist and Guardian columnist, as well as a Curtis Brown literary agent. She taught creative writing at the University of Manchester and in many other settings before founding Curtis Brown Creative in 2011.

What does this bootcamp give you?

  • 12 original teaching videos from Anna: Each video gives concise advice on a useful writing topic.
  • 10 tailor-made writing tasks: Put the teaching into practice (these bigger writing exercises are set every three days).
  • 20 writing prompts + tips: You’ll get a writing prompt and a writing tip every day (except on days when a more in-depth writing task has been set).
  • Written notes: Each video and writing task is supported by useful notes from Anna, to give further guidance.
  • Student forum: Find your writing community. Students are encouraged to share the results of their tasks in the secure, moderated forum and take a little time to read and offer brief positive feedback to other participants. Anna will also be posting messages of encouragement to the group every few days.

Study with friends

If you want to join the same student group as friends you’ve met studying with us previously – or with writers you know in real life – please email help@curtisbrowncreative.co.uk and we can arrange this for you.

Bootcamp schedule

We suggest setting aside 30-45 minutes to respond to each daily writing task or prompt. You can use the bootcamp to write every day – or catch up later if your schedule doesn’t allow that.

Some students might be inspired to spend longer on certain writing exercises, others might skip certain prompts and focus on the 10 bigger tasks.

For those of you eager to dedicate more time to your writing, the bootcamp is a great accompaniment for any other writing projects you’re working on and can be done simultaneously with a CBC online course.
