The Rewrite Doctor – Edit Your Novel
You’ve done brilliantly to write a whole novel – so why are you plunged into gloom when you read it through?
This one-day intensive Zoom course led by CBC’s Founder and MD Anna Davis is the perfect next step for writers who have finished the first draft of their novel and want to learn how to knock it into better shape. The course will run from 10am to 5.30pm on Tues 18 Oct.
Anna will walk you through The Rewrite Doctor, her tried-and-tested method for editing a novel (as featured in our bestselling Edit & Pitch Your Novel course), where you’ll be given the template that will take the pain out of editing and guide you all the way through the rewriting process.
You’ll have time to try out the Rewrite Doctor method on your own novel, and will then return later in the day for a live teaching session with Anna and your fellow students, where there’ll be a chance to talk about your experience and ask questions.
By the end of the day you should be equipped with everything you need to construct a complete plan for editing your novel and to move forward with confidence.
The course was great, the Rewrite Doctor is a very useful tool and Anna did a fantastic job presenting it.

Application process
We will respond to entries throughout the application period.
As places on this course are limited, we will be working to select 16 writers whose work we consider has the potential to really benefit from this course – but, mindful of the fact that people might need to book annual leave – we will not be waiting until the closing date to read applications and offer places. We, therefore, advise people who are keen to join this course to apply early.
We are offering priority entry to former students of our three- or six-month Writing Your Novel courses (online or in London). Alumni will be given entry to this course – on a first-come, first-served basis – provided they have a complete draft.
If you’d like to apply, please fill in the application form at the end of this page and send us a short extract from the novel you’re working on plus a one-page synopsis (see instructions below).
If you encounter any problems during the application process, or have any more questions about the course, please email help@curtisbrowncreative.co.uk for assistance.
OPTIONAL FEEDBACK
All students will be given the option to purchase feedback on their final task from a CBC editor (a published author with relevant teaching/editorial experience).
- CBC report: For an additional fee of £145, you can obtain a detailed 500-word report on your work (of up to 3,000 words) from one of our editors.
- CBC report + tutorial: For an additional fee of £240, you can obtain a 500-word report from one of our editors and have a 30-minute video or telephone tutorial with them to discuss your work.
