The Writing Studio, our new membership programme for writers, arrives Thursday 5 March.

We’re launching a brand-new membership programme for writers. The Writing Studio is perfect for those looking for continuous writing support and community without the bigger commitment of a course – or for those who have already taken courses with us and would like some ongoing CBC flavour in their writing lives. You’ll attend live Zoom events including Q&As with agents, authors and publishers. You’ll take part in writing hours and pitch clinics with the CBC team. Reply to weekly messages, writing prompts and chats in our studio forum with Anna Davis and a supportive online community of writers. Gain access to a library of practical resources – and more.

Membership costs £25 per month – or £240 if you pay for a full year upfront (that’s just £20 per month). Members opting for the pay-as-you-go membership can cancel at any time.

What’s included in the Writing Studio?

Weekly message & chat: Anna Davis kicks off the writing week each Monday morning with a thought-provoking message in the Writing Studio forum, offering tips and insights plus her opinions on writing issues of the day. Every message invites a discussion from members, and Anna will be hopping back online on Tuesdays to read the replies posted and offer further comment. (In weeks when Anna is not available, the message and chat will come from other senior members of the CBC team).
Weekly prompt: A new writing prompt from Anna or a member of the CBC team will be delivered straight to your inbox on Monday mornings and posted in the studio forum to spark your ideas and get you straight down to your writing.
Community & work-sharing: Join our moderated members-only forum where writers share work, exchange feedback, and find beta readers. Respond to the weekly prompts for critique or use our beta reader hub to swap chapters and manuscripts. Our supportive community operates on reciprocity – share your work, support others, and build lasting friendships with writers worldwide.
Weekly writing hours: Every Friday you’ll be invited to join a writing hour on Zoom hosted by a member of the CBC team. These hours will alternate between mornings and lunchtimes (UK time). Find accountability and get writing alongside your fellow members.
Monthly ‘In Conversations’: Join a one-hour Zoom session every month in which Anna Davis (or a senior CBC team member) will be in conversation with a published author, literary agent or publisher. These events are exclusively for studio members, and you’ll have a chance to get your questions answered live.
Monthly pitching clinics: Every month 16 members will join a live one-hour Zoom to practise delivering their elevator pitches to two experienced members of the CBC team, who’ll give verbal feedback. Each month the 16 writers will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis (due to high demand, writers selected for pitch clinics will be able to sign up once every three months).
CBC event pass: You'll get free tickets to our stellar series of online events with guest authors, publishers and literary agents. Events are hosted once a month.
Library of content: Access our growing library of CBC recorded author events and publishing industry interviews – as well as professionally filmed video lessons and written resources covering topics such as finding inspiration, developing characters, constructing your plot and structure, editing and pitching.
2 free courses: You’ll gain free access to two of our video-based Deep Dive courses, on Dialogue and Relationships in Fiction, led by bestselling author and popular Writing Your Novel tutor Laura Barnett (now exclusive to members). You can work through these courses at your own pace .
10% off courses: Members get 10% off selected courses and early access to apply for select courses.
Choose your membership plan: You can pay monthly or yearly. Our upfront annual membership provides our best rate of £240 per year – while our pay-as-you-go monthly plan at £25 allows you to cancel and restart your membership at any time. While we’d love to see you every month, we understand that life happens.
